Mission to Ghana a Resounding Success

Robert Brown, Founder and Chairman of International BookSmart Foundation led a women’s health and education delegation to Ghana, West Africa in February 2010. The purpose of the trip was multi-dimensional: 1) to assess the additional book needs of schools in Ghana; 2) review progress being made on the Zeta Phi Beta sponsored Z-Hope Infirmary and Health Center located on the campus of Afua Kobi Ampen Girl’s High School and 3) to interact with local government officials and dignitaries.

BookSmart provides language CD's and computers to NC A&T outreach program

The BookSmart foundation donated several ChiChewa language CD's to the North Carolina A&T college's Malawi initiative. Four students and two staff members are heading to Malawi to do research and community outreach. In support of their efforts, BookSmart donated not only the CD's but also a laptop computer which will be placed in a local school selected by the program. The initiative is led by Dr Liz Barber.
Shipment to Nukuru, Kenya Completed

The BookSmart foundation completed its first shipment to Nukuru, Kenya. After a busy day off loading the books they were sorted and placed in schools. The local recipients were overjoyed with the donations and wished to let everyone know that:
"Once again thank you so much. May God continue blessing you and the entire staffs in your organization. Many needy and poor children will benefit through this donation."
BookSmart Foundation begins shipments to Liberia

Thanks to a grant through USAID, The BookSmart Foundation is able to transport two containers of books destined for President Johnson’s Education Trust. Mr. Robert J. Brown, Founder of the International BookSmart Foundation is excited about keeping his commitment to President Johnson. BookSmart Foundation shipped two forty foot containers of books to The Liberian Education Trust, approximately sixty thousand text books for elementary students at no cost to the Liberian Education Trust.
Shipment of books to Middleburg, South Africa completed

The BookSmart foundation recently completed the shipment of one container of books through the Port cit of Durban. The container of books will be distributed in the town of Middleburg in the Province of Mpumalanga.
These books will be distributed to a (K-12) comprehensive school that is desperately in need of support and educational materials. We are delighted to receive this support from the USAID to cover the costs of this shipment.
Three containers of books delivered to Durban, South Africa

The BookSmart Foundation just completed a shipment of three 40 foot containers of books to the city of Durban. This shipment was made possible through a grant by USAID. These books will be distributed in the Durban area to schools and community centers that are in desperate need of textbooks and educational materials.
Shipment to Port Elizabeth Completed

The BookSmart Foundation just completed a shipment of one full container container of books in Port Elizabeth. This shipment was made possible by a donation by Johnson Controls. These books will be distributed in the Port Elizabeth area to schools and community centers that are in desperate need of textbooks and educational materials.
We are delighted with this shipment of books. Students in our primary schools will enjoy learning from these excellent materials. Thanks go to Johnson Controls for supporting our efforts.
Over Two Million Books At BookSmart Launch In South Africa

On Sept. 19, 2003, the Durban Exhibition Center in Durban, South Africa was filled wall to wall with children, national leaders and corporations that witnessed the launch of over two million books at the Fourth Annual South Africa BookSmart Foundation National Book Launch (SABF).
